A browser that leaves you in control.

Bare is a de-Googled Chromium build for Android with real browser extensions, practical media tools, and privacy-conscious defaults.

Latest: v1.0.0-alpha.2-rc3 · 64-bit and 32-bit ARM

Features

The useful parts of desktop browsing, on your phone.

01

Desktop extensions

Install the same extensions you use on desktop, including Bitwarden, Dark Reader, and more.

02

uBlock Origin included

The full, removable extension ships unmodified. Manifest V2 stays available, so it is not limited to the Lite version.

03

Background media playback

Keep supported video playing when you switch apps or lock your phone, with audio continuing in the background.

04

Your download manager

Keep downloads in Bare, or hand them to an external manager such as 1DM when you prefer.

05

Extensions within reach

A desktop-style extensions toolbar lets you pin the tools you use and open them without digging through menus.

06

Search, your way

DuckDuckGo is the default, and Bare lets you add and manage your own search engines from settings.

Privacy, stated plainly

Less Google. More visibility.

Bare removes telemetry, Google sign-in prompts, Firebase registration, and built-in AI surfaces. DuckDuckGo is the default search engine, and the source is public for anyone to inspect.

It does not pretend the network is silent. Chromium's security component updater remains enabled, uBlock Origin updates its filter lists, and update checks can contact GitHub. Safe Browsing is not available in this public Chromium build.
